SSC Racing Cairngorm Program

Our domestic ski race training programme is based at Caringorm Mountain, near Aviemore, and runs throughout the winter season. We run training every weekend, as well as some ‘camps’ during the school holiday weeks (half-term and Easter).

In 2024 it is running for 16 weekends over the winter period from the beginning of January (6th-7th) to the middle of April (14th-15th). The camps are running for 3 days at February half-term from 12th-14th February and at Easter from 1st-5th April.

The program is open to all young skiers from U10 to U16 age categories (based on year of birth, see https://gbski.com/lists.php#ages for details).

We do also welcome U8s on a case-by-case, trial basis, and this can be organised throughout the season by prior arrangement with racetraining@scottishskiclub.org.uk. The mountain environment at Cairngorm can be extremely harsh at times and all trainees need a certain level of independence to work in a group setting, so we ask that U8s are accompanied by a parent skiing with the group on the mountain for at least their first session to lend a hand if needed. In some cases, such as particularly poor weather, you may need to head down the mountain with your little one before the end of the training day. If U8s are successful and can manage with little to no help from a parent, we’ll be happy to take them on their own pending coach approval!

Please email any enquiries about the Cairngorm program to racetraining@scottishskiclub.org.uk.

The SSC Racing team are delighted to be able to continue our sponsorship with Blues/Tiso which provides funds to help underwrite our the programme, allows us to keep training costs at the same great rates. For the fourth year in a row now, the Cairngorm race training program is the same price, which represents exceptional value. Use the instructions above to register and pay for race training for the season. Club membership is of course required to get registered on the programme.

We look forward to seeing you on the hill!
