New Year Camp

Sun 27 Dec 2026 – Sun 3 Jan 2027 & Sun 3 – Sun 10 Jan 2027
Verbier, SUI

The New Year camp is a great opportunity to get some training and BASS/minis races done in a relatively short camp. This year we’re heading to the Anglo Scottish Championships races organised by British Ski Academy, based in the La Tzoumaz area of Les 4 Vallées in Switzerland. There are great training opportunities, and an even greater expanse of terrain to explore for freeskiing, which we will do every day after the races.

Schedule & Races

TBC subject to confirmation of the race calendar.

You are responsible for entering the races yourself. You must have a valid BASS competitor registration and enter online by the deadline to attend the camp. See GBSki for details »

About The Camp

Staff

Head Coach Calum Shepherd leads the team for this camp. Check out our coaching team here »

Further camp staff are TBC subject to numbers.

Join This Camp

Trainees can join this camp for individual or multiple weeks, and can attend the camp as an inlier (all-inclusive residential camp) or as an outlier (coaching on the hill each day only). We would encourage all trainees to join on a residential (inlier) basis wherever possible to get the most out of the camp.

This camp is subject to minimum numbers – place your deposit now to avoid disappointment!

Team Base

SSC staff and inliers will be staying at the Relais de la Servaz. From there, the ski area is a 20-minute drive, and it has everything we need. The accommodation comes highly recommended from British Ski Academy, the organiser of the Anglo Scottish races. All meals for inliers are included in the camp. Breakfast is at the hotel, we make packed lunches for each day on the hill (there is also an option to buy hot/extra food in the mountain restaurant), and dinner is back at the hotel.

For this camp, we would welcome any outliers to join us at our base – just get in touch to book through SSC. Outliers are also always welcome to stay nearby at alternative accommodation.

Travel

Accompanied flights are available for inliers. You are responsible for booking these and should do so after receiving confirmation of your camp place. This confirmation will include instructions and all the details (inc. booking refs) you need.

Outbound: TBC
Return: subject to demand – please get in touch

Week 2

Airport transfers to/from the team base are included for all inliers.

Luggage

The team van will be travelling to & from Switzerland for this camp. The van can take ski bags only for £20 each way. This is available for all camp attendees, subject to space being available in the van.

Kit can be dropped off for travel out in Edinburgh (other locations TBC). Kit must be with the van by 23rd December, and will return mid-January. If Cairngorm training is running, this would be the preferred location for returning your kit to you. Space is offered first-come, first-serve and must be pre-booked.

Camp Objectives

The New Year camp gives a great chance to strike the perfect balance of freeskiing and time in gates. Being right in the winter season, the chances of a powder day are high, and we will certainly take advantage of any fresh snow to explore the off-piste safely! There is so much skiing to be had in Les 4 Vallées that we can explore, so the athletes get to see way more than just one repetitive training slope.

The races include some speed/kombi, so we will maximise any speed training opportunities, and would encourage everyone to enter the speed race. The race piste is not too challenging for Super-G, so it is not to be missed!

As we ski longer days than in the early/late season, we tend to do less fitness on this camp, but there’s still a focus on ski tuning. Coaches are, of course, on-hand to help with that, especially to make sure that skis are race-ready. It is a full schedule and athletes need to be focussed, healthy and motivated to get the most out of this camp.
