Easter Camp

Sun 21 – Sun 28 Mar & Sun 28 Mar – Wed 7 Apr 2027
Santa Caterina, ITA

This Easter we heading back to the quaint resort of Santa Caterina, the fantastic new venue of the British Children’s Championship races organised by GB Snowsport.

After a hugely successful first year, we are really looking forward to being back. Last year, the race hill set up perfectly each day with melt-freeze conditions, whilst the training lanes higher up the mountain stayed consistent with cold, winter snow. It could not have been better! Off the hill, we have a perfect hotel in a great location with an ideal ski room and unbeatable food.

Schedule & Races

Sun 29 Mar – Sat 4 Apr will be a full week of training.
Sun 5 Apr will be a day off/travel day.
Mon 6 Apr will be a training day for everyone.
Tue 7 – Tue 14 Apr are when the races are scheduled for. Not all age groups are racing each day, so those not racing will be training.

You are responsible for entering the races yourself. You must have a valid BASS competitor registration and enter online by the deadline to attend the camp. The races are the GB Alpine Children’s Championships. See GBSki for details »

Join This Camp

Trainees can join this camp for individual or multiple weeks, and can attend the camp as an inlier (all-inclusive residential camp) or as an outlier (coaching on the hill each day only). We would encourage all trainees to join on a residential (inlier) basis wherever possible to get the most out of the camp.

Team Base

SSC staff and inliers will be staying at the Hotel Confinale. This is a very classic family-run Italian Albergo, and is right at the bottom of the gondola and race pisteAll meals for inliers are included in the camp, and include a buffet breakfast, 4-course lunches, and 5-course dinners, every single day!

The hotel features a large terrace with great views of the bottom of the race piste (one for the parents!). There is a great ski room, too.

For this camp, we would welcome any outliers to join us at our base – just get in touch to book through SSC. Outliers are also always welcome to stay nearby at alternative accommodation.

Kit can be dropped off for travel out in Edinburgh (other locations TBC). The van will leave Edinburgh in mid-March, and return at the end of April. Space is offered first-come, first-serve and must be pre-booked.

Camp Objectives

Although these are the ‘British champs’, they are really just further BASS/minis racing opportunities. Santa Caterina is a quiet resort at this time of year, with great free skiing and plenty of access to a variety of training lanes. Depending on conditions, we may have the possibility of training back in Bormio as well.

The races include some speed/kombi, so we will maximise any speed training opportunities, and would encourage everyone to enter the speed race. The race piste is not too challenging for Super-G, so it is not to be missed!

As we ski longer days than in the early/late season, we tend to do less fitness on this camp, but there’s still a focus on ski tuning. Coaches are, of course, on-hand to help with that, especially to make sure that skis are race-ready. It is a full schedule and athletes need to be focussed, healthy and motivated to get the most out of this camp.

Equipment

Please ensure you are familiar with our Camp Packing List.

If you do not have anything on the kit list, or are outgrowing kit, please get in touch with the Head Coach.
