February Half-Term Camp

Sat 6 – Sat 13 Feb & Sun 13 – Sun 20 2027
Bormio, ITA

This February we return to the well-loved Italian town of Bormio, the host of Men’s Olympic Alpine Skiing in 2026!

The English Alpine Championships are the favourite winter race week of many. With stable weather, reliable snow and a full week of BASS & minis races, it’s not to be missed. The town of Bormio is a real gem as well with an authentic old town and a fantastic atmosphere.

Schedule & Races

Sat 6 Feb is travel to resort.
Sun 7 – Fri 12 Feb are training days.
Sat 13 Feb is a day off/travel day.
Sun 14 – Fri 19 Feb is the race week, with a mix of training & racing for different age groups.
Sun 20 Feb is return home.

You are responsible for entering the races yourself. You must have a valid BASS competitor registration and enter online by the deadline to attend the camp. The races are the English Children’s Championships. See GBSki for details »

Join This Camp

Trainees can join this camp for individual or multiple weeks, and can attend the camp as an inlier (all-inclusive residential camp) or as an outlier (coaching on the hill each day only). We would encourage all trainees to join on a residential (inlier) basis wherever possible to get the most out of the camp.

This camp is subject to minimum numbers – place your deposit now to avoid disappointment! When we reach the minimum number of trainees who have registered and committed by paying a deposit, the Head Coach will be in touch to confirm the camp and arrange travel.

More About This Camp

Team Base

SSC staff and inliers will be staying at TBC.

For this camp, we would welcome any outliers to join us at our base – just get in touch to book through SSC. Outliers are also always welcome to stay nearby at alternative accommodation.

Travel

Accompanied flights will be available for inliers. Flights will be confirmed when the camp reaches minimum numbers, and we will consider using any of the Milan airports (MXP, LIN, and/or BGY), depending on flight prices at the time of confirming. We will work with all families to pick the option that works best and minimises costs.

Airport transfers to/from the team base are included for all inliers.

Luggage

The team van will be travelling to & from Bormio for this camp. The van can take ski bags only for £20 each way. This is available for all camp attendees, subject to space being available in the van.

Kit can be dropped off for travel out in Edinburgh (other locations TBC). The van will leave Edinburgh at the end of January, and return at the end of February ahead of the Scottish Children’s Championships. If Cairngorm training/races are running, this would be the preferred location for collecting & returning your kit to you. Space is offered first-come, first-serve and must be pre-booked.

Camp Objectives

The atmosphere at the English championships is great, with so many other British teams training alongside/with us. There are great training opportunities to be had across 3 different resorts in the Valtellina area, so we really maximise race prep on this camp whilst having fun out of the gates in some really unique ski areas. The town of Bormio is also teeming with proper Italian mountain culture.

For the U14s and older, there is a Super-G race down the mighty Stelvio piste, so we will maximise any speed training opportunities, and would encourage everyone to enter the speed race.

As we ski longer days than in the early/late season, we tend to do less fitness on this camp, but there’s still a focus on ski tuning. Coaches are, of course, on-hand to help with that, especially to make sure that skis are race-ready. It is a full schedule and athletes need to be focussed, healthy and motivated to get the most out of this camp.

Equipment

Please ensure you are familiar with our kit list and advice on packing.

If you do not have anything on the kit list, or are outgrowing kit, please get in touch with the Head Coach.
