SSC Alpine Camps supported by ATC SCIO
SSC’s new Alpine Program of training & racing opportunities in the Alps is open to all club members with racing experience and is suitable for U10-U18 age groups. The program is based around residential camps (for U12 and older) with pastoral care (house parent) and dedicated quiet schoolwork slots during the training day outwith term time. Non-residential (training only) options are available, for U10 and older, for the core program and most additional camps.
These pre-season training and British alpine racing opportunities are complemented by our existing domestic training weekends and race coach support at Cairngorm and other Scottish areas during the winter.
Core Camps
Autumn half-term training in Hintertux, AUT and February half-term racing in Bormio, ITA form the core program, part-funded by the SSC Bursary funds. Bursary-funded places are available on a first-come, first-served basis to SSC members and offer one of the most cost-effective ways to access alpine training & racing.
February Camp

Race Week Sat 10 – Sat 17 Feb 2024 | Bormio, ITA
The English Championship races in Bormio are by far the best races of the season. With stable weather, reliable snow and a full week of BASS/Mini’s races, it’s not to be missed. We will be training the week before the races and then supporting the Children’s Championships the following week.

Additional Camps
Additional training & racing opportunities are available to suit the most committed athletes. These camps are subject to minimum numbers so please note your interest as soon as possible to allow them to be planned in good time.
December Camp
Training & Race Weekend Sat 16 – Thu 21 Dec 2023 | Kaprun, AUT
The week before Christmas is an ideal and opportune camp for some training, with the first real snow of winter having fallen and ski areas being quiet before the season fully kicks off. Athletes will also get some race experience under the belt with the mid-week Ambition Tech Series BASS races.
Residential option is £1,000 for the Sat-Thur camp; non-residential price £350.
We will offer accompanied travel from Edinburgh to Munich.

New Year Camp
Training & Race Week Thur 28 Dec 2023 – Sun 7 Jan 2024 | Kaprun, AUT
This is an ideal time for a young athlete’s first races overseas with ample training time in the days before the races to get warmed up, and then 4 days of racing at the Ambition Children’s Championships before heading back to school.
