SSC Racing Alpine Camps

SSC’s overseas training & racing opportunities in Europe are open to all club members with racing experience, and suitable for U10-U16 age groups. Club membership is open to all and just £27.50 annually – see here. These camps are complemented by our Scottish training based at Cairngorm during the winter.

If you would like to join us for any of these camps, you want to know which camp(s) are suitable for you, or you have any other queries, you can contact the club’s Head Coach, Calum Shepherd, by email at coaching@scottishskiclub.org.uk.

“My son will never ski in the World Cup. Why, then, do I spend so much time and money on ski camps? This type of sport is a way for him to develop both physically and mentally during the important years. He has become totally dedicated to something. He has developed pride, self confidence, mental awareness, lasting friendships, punctuality and pride in his appearance. Short of the military, he has become regimented in his actions both at home, school and on the mountain. He doesn’t like to lose, but has become more gracious about it. He certainly doesn’t have time to be bored. He has learned to take criticism and accept praise gracefully. All of these qualities take some people a life to attain. My son is 12 years old.”

Here is an overview of camps we plan to run in 2025/26. These camps are all subject to minimum numbers.

Alpine Camps

November Indoor Camp | Snø Oslo, NOR

£800-£1,100, depending on numbers | c. £160/day outlier

Fri 21 – Mon 24 Nov 2025

Keep the skiing skills fresh after the October camp ahead of the winter season. The modern and comprehensive snow dome in Oslo offers indoor training all year round, and supports clubs from all around the world. This camp spans a long weekend, minimising time off school and maximising time on snow.

Pre-Christmas Camp | TBC

Sun 7 – Sun 14 OR Sat 13 – Sat 20 Dec 2025

OPTIONS: we will run this on the first week to Austria, or the second week to Norway, depending on what works for those interested.

There are British-run races on each week, in Austria the first week (Nations Cup series), or in Norway the second week (Aurora Cup).

New Year Camp | Kaprun, AUT

Sun 28 Dec 2025 – Wed 7 OR Sun 11 Jan 2026

This is an ideal time for a young athlete’s first races overseas with ample training time in the days before the races to get warmed up, then racing at the Ambition Children’s Championships (including speed races) before heading back to school.

Alpine Camps

February Half-Term Camp | Schladming, AUT

c. £1,500/week inlier | £95/day (TBC) outlier

Race week: Sat 15 – Sat 21 Feb 2026

In February 2026, due to the alternative race calendar, we plan to attend the Nations Cup races put on by Snowsport England & Team Evolution. These are British seeded races, but also international races, so it’s a great chance to do something new and a bit different!

Easter Camp | Santa Caterina, ITA

Finish the season off with pre-race training and the British Alpine Children’s Championships, returning to the fantastic new race venue of Santa Caterina.
