Adventure Weekend
Sat 27 – Sun 28 Sep 2025
Cairngorm & Loch Insh
We are looking to organise a pre-season gathering to bring together trainees, their families, and coaches, all from different clubs across Scotland, for two days of adventure activities, teambuilding, and dryland/fitness training. It’s a chance to meet fellow skiers ahead of the upcoming winter season to get to know each other before the snow arrives. We’ll make use of the fantastic Speyside area to start thinking about and preparing for the season ahead with a mix of sport, social time, and technical/goal setting activities. Whether you join for the full weekend or just a day, it’ll be a great way to bond with other club members and set the tone for the winter.
Parents are encouraged to attend to check out the facilities we have at Cairngorm, and what Loch Insh has to offer as a base for training at Cairngorm during the winter.
Mountain Biking
There are some great new MTB trails at our winter home of Cairngorm Mountain. Cycling coach Andy Scouller (also a coach with Grampian Snowsports) will take the group for a 3-hour session on the Saturday. There are lots of transferable skills between mountain biking and ski racing, so this is a great summer sport to do in preparation for a great winter season!
Goal Setting & Fitness Testing
We will use this opportunity with everyone together to do some structured goal setting. Having clear, appropriate goals ahead of the season (and ahead of a specific camp) allows athletes to get more out of their training, by having a clear focus and outcome to look towards. As we all know, ski racing is also a hugely physical sport. We will make use of the same fitness tests that the Scottish Alpine Ski Team use, to assess the level of physiology of the group. This is a great way to benchmark and see where you’re at compared to our top athletes, but also to know if there are any areas of weakness that could be improved to get more out of a camp.
Jungle Float
Loch Insh Watersports Centre’s Jungle Float is a new floating waterpark with a slide, diving platform and trampolines. This is led by Loch Insh instructors and starts with a briefing, changing into wetsuits, and then having a blast around on the water as a bit of fun to round off the weekend.
